125 years of tradition in machine tool building
125 years ago, on 1st October, 1883 Theodor Keil layed the foundations for the machine tool building traditions in Glauchau with the formation of a Zeugschmiederei. This Zeugschmiederei also built the roots of today's WEMA Glauchau GmbH.

Wirtschafts-Journal: Surprising new service from Glauchau makers of grinding machines
The Werkzeugmaschinenfabrik Glauchau has been among the leading manufactures of grinding machines in Germany for many years.
The company´s range of products is split up in three main product groups with corresponding types:
-Combined machines for internal, external and universal cylindrical grinding
-Surface grinding machines for sawblades and cutting discs
-Rolling bearing grinders
All of the machines are supplied with SIEMENS controls wich are equipped with our own developed, easy-to-operate control and user software with user interface WOPGlauchau®. Applying our experience in more than 2000 grinders sold worldwide, the machines were continuously developed further and improved in the past years.
This year, Werkzeugmaschinenfabrik Glauchau GmbH have come up once again with a newly developed surface grinder with a horizontal work-holding spindle. The new machine in the SP series is meant for use in cutting process in blade-shaped parts with an additional part-specific toothing option. The first model has already been manufactured and delivered to a manufacturer of machines for the food industry.
"From this year, we are able to provide our customers with a very special service. According to the motto ´Don´t wait, start!´, we let our contractual customers have one of our universal cylindrical grinder SU 6-F for their part production until the machine they have ordered is ready for dispatch. Almost 90 per cent of rotation symmetrical parts with a diameter of up to 600 mm and a length of up to 400 mm can be worked with this machine", said managing director Heiner Kaltenberger, explaining the service concept in his company.
Reputed manufacturers such as SKF, INA, GMN, GKN, IKS and MAN are among the company´s list of clients today. The manufacturer of grinding machines from Glauchau GmbH is represented, for example, in Italy, Austria, Finland, China, Turkey and France.
